Freerk Faber - WCT MedTech - and Jan ten Thije - Leap Development - in the anechoic chamber of Leap.
Recently, Freerk Faber from the WTC visited us and was impressed that we have such a large anechoic chamber. Freerk is a friendly, entertaining man and has an infinite ready knowledge of companies at home and abroad. Leap Development has been affiliated with the World Trade Center in Twente for several years and has recently joined the MedTech group. Freerk sees Leap Development's distinguishing capacity in the market, the foreign market, especially Germany, where we already have clients but want to expand. Freerk characterises us as a company that is capable of solving wireless communication issues: large companies come to us with their EMC problems. Thanks to the measurement set-ups we have here and especially our experience as an antenna specialist - if I do say so myself - we track down the problem and come up with solutions. The customer's time-to-market is then saved. That is why we see the medical market as a spearhead for us, because that market demands the highest quality. And that is what we deliver.WTC Medical Technology in Twente organises regular meetings for 30 plus companies with an inspiring programme and plenty of opportunity for networking. On 3 and 4 November you will find us at the TechMed event at the University of Twente.
My passion for antenna technology started Leap Development in 2006. And even in my spare time, I read the 'Antennen Buch': the standard work in my profession. I can get totally absorbed in radio schematics and making applications with GSM and satellite connections.

Defence project: Residential barracks and storage containers

A beautiful and important project for the welfare of military personnel on mission. We are developing the HUMS - Health and Usage Monitoring system for the living quarters. Information about temperature, humidity, equipment status etc. is transmitted together with the location. We used our basic module for this - the Leap Track-and-Trace System LTTS Core Module - and placed the whole thing in a robust housing. This makes it resistant to mechanical and climatic influences.

For storage containers the location and movement is important. Here, too, we have created a Core Module-based system and are offering it, in addition to this project, through our sister company GTTS and also through the platform provider BlackPoint.

We got this project through Marshall who were looking for Iridium solutions. We are the only developer in the Netherlands. Eventually GSM proved to be sufficient and we were able to use our Core Module. This GSM core based on LTE-M and GPS/Glonass gives us a head start on the speed of development for specific applications such as the T&T HUMS.
